Unlearning

It’s been a while since my last update. I tend to think of my blog posts as semi-long-term experiments, and I try to bring my point across without having to write a huge wall of text. In a way, this blog serves as my public journal.

I’ve had some of the weirdest days lately. After my birthday, I began unlearning things. By things, I really mean everything. Unlearning some things was quite hard. You have to go against yourself, and that’s not an easy thing to do.

Motivation

To throw it all away, you gotta know what you got!

Evidence

At times, things felt wrong; quite wrong in fact. If it wasn’t for Evidence’s song — that this post is even named after — I probably would’ve struggled much, much more in my thoughts and/or even quit then and there. With these kinds of things, moving forward is a must, especially when you’re struggling the most.

I also started distancing myself from people and things that no longer benefit me after certain events happened; going back to my old self simply isn’t a possibility anymore. It’s incredibly tiring to be around people that talk the talk but don’t walk the walk. It drains my energy as much as everyday small talk, sometimes even more than that.

What now?

I’m going to do more unlearning. There’s not a single reason to stop here, since the toughest days seem to be behind me. I will keep on going because the last few months I had the most wonderful time learning and figuring myself out.

It’s ultimately about learning more about myself, getting to know how I function, and healing myself from things I’ve been through. I’m going to be working on fixing my mindset and bringing the necessary change in my environment because these two things seem to be the foundation of everything else that I want to do.

Closing words

An unexamined life is not worth living.

Do give it a try yourself. Perhaps it has never been a better moment in your life to try something new and different from your daily routine given the current state of affairs in the whole world. Plus, you don’t have to unlearn everything, like I do. And stay safe!

P.S. I basically have no idea what I’m doing, but I know that it’s working really well.
